A ceremony took place today at the French Residence, with Honorable Minister of health, Dr Chilufya. PS Kakulubelwa Mulalela and PS Kennedy Malama were also present, as well as Mr Victor Mukonka, director of ZNPHI, directors and team members of CFAO and Missionpharma, and the Chairperson of the French Zambian Chamber of Commerce.

The Ambassador and the Minister signed an agreement formalizing a grant worth 147,000 Euros (equivalent to 3 million Zambian Kwacha), covering some essential medicines, medical supplies or consumables, and small hospital equipment given to the Government of the Republic of Zambia by the Government of the French Republic.

France and Zambia have for a long time now enjoyed strong bilateral relations. Within the multilateral cooperation in the heath sector also, France is already a major contributor to the Global Fund, which is very active in Zambia.

The donation is currently delivered to Medical Stores Limited by Missionpharma Zambia, part of CFAO group, whose headquarters are based close to Paris, France.
Missionpharma has been working in Zambia for more than 20 years supplying the public sector with quality approved medicines – notably the health Centre Kits catering for the need at the primary health care level.

Medical Stores Limited is mandated to ensure storage and distribution of medical commodities, where the final recipients will be public health institutions providing health services to the people of Zambia. It will provide a report documenting the distribution of products covered under this grant.

The Embassy of France acknowledges the efforts that the Government of the Republic of Zambian has continued to undertake in providing quality healthcare to its citizens - particularly those from under-privileged communities.

This donation is intended to demonstrate French people’s solidarity, and to strengthen health services in Zambia and support efforts aimed at offering intelligent health solutions key in improving the health and wellbeing of Zambians.
