Postponement of the Bordeaux "Africa-France" Summit and of the Generation Equality Forum in Paris.

In view of the progress of the situation related to the Covid-19 epidemic, several international events planned in France next June and July and calling for the participation of many Heads of State and civil society will be postponed.

The Africa-France Summit in Bordeaux will not be able to take place on the dates initially planned. In conjunction with our African partners, the President of the Republic will propose to his counterparts in the coming days an initiative devoted to the health and economic response to Covid-19 on a continental scale.

In agreement with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Conservation Congress in Marseilles has been postponed to the first quarter of 2021. The very close links between the protection of the environment, biodiversity, the fight against climate change and health issues, at the heart of France’s priorities, will be strongly reaffirmed around an agenda for concrete action.

In agreement with UN Women, the Generation Equality Forum in Paris has been postponed to the first half of 2021. France will honour the commitment of all those, particularly women healthcare workers, who are currently fighting the epidemic throughout the world and to whom we offer our thoughts and support.
